The Society's primary museum facility, this structure houses our formal
gallery, which features rotating exhibits. An extensive research library
here contains collections of historical books about the settlement of Ohio
and Wayne County. The Society’s business offices are also located within
this building.
In addition, the building incorporates a carriage house featuring a variety
of horse-drawn vehicles, including some locally manufactured by the Gerstenslager
Company. The building also displays agricultural implements, an extensive
military collection including firearms, Native American Indian artifacts, a huge
variety of stuffed animals from the 1904 St. Louis World’s Fair, pioneer-era tools
and the extensive personal wood carving collection of Vernon Tschiegg which includes
a working ferris wheel and Spanish galleons.
